Ricardo Lamas will still be competing at the UFC’s next event in Las Vegas.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Lamas will take on newcomer Bill Algeo this Saturday at UFC Vegas 8. The event takes place at the UFC APEX.
Algeo, who also confirmed the booking via social media, replaces Ryan Hall who was forced to withdraw due to an injury.
A former competitor on Dana White’s Contender Series, Algeo (13-4) enters his octagon debut with victories in five of six. “Senor Perfecto” dropped a unanimous decision to Brendan Loughnane on DWCS in June 2019 in his bid to earn a UFC contract. The 31-year-old Pennsylvania native is coming off of a unanimous decision win earlier this month against Tim Dooling at CFFC 83.
Lamas (19-8) has lost three of his last four. In his previous fight, the former title challenger fell by first-round TKO to Calvin Kattar.
UFC Vegas 8 will be headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Anthony Smith and Aleksander Rakic.
